Phagocytic Activity of Cells of the Inflammatory ExÃodate in Human Leukemia1
نویسنده
چکیده
The phagocytic activity of the granulocytes and the mononuclear cells of the local inflammatory exÃodate of adult patients with leukemia has been studied by the skin window technic. The cells were exposed to India ink, and their phagocytic activity was expressed as percentage of cells containing particles (phagocytic index). The capability of granulocytes and mononuclear cells to engulf India ink was significantly reduced in all forms of leukemia, with the one exception of the normal phagocytic activity of granulo cytes in chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The author speculates that his observations lend support to the thesis that the phagocytic activity of leukocytes capable of participating in the cellular phase of the immune response is de pressed in all forms of leukemia. This may be a contributing factor to the increased susceptibility to infections of patients with leukemia.

Function of Neutrophils in Different Phases of Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia
In chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), the mature granulocytes originate from a stem cell line harboring an abnormal chromosome, therefore it is possible that metabolic-functional abnormalities occur in the morphologically mature cells. In the present study, the phagocytic activity including intracellular killing, nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) reduction, and phagocytosis were studied in 37 CML p...

Introduction: Lithium salts are known as effective psychotropic medicine for treatment bipolar disorder and may be used to treat alcoholism, schizoaffective disorders, and cluster headaches. The antioxidant activity and immunomodulatory effects of prospective lithium compounds have been investigated in this work. Materials and Methods: The antioxidant properties were studied by the voltammetry...

Objective(s):Some evidence showed that calcitriol has an important role in regulating growth and differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). However, the interaction between mesenchymal stem cells and macrophage is not clear yet. The current study was done to investigate the in vitro effects of calcitriol on the interactions between bone marrow-derived MSCs and rat macrophages. Material...

This experiment was conducted to study the effect of levamisole at different rearing ages on performance, some internal organ weights, white blood cells and phagocytic activity in Cobb 500 strain male broilers. The experiment was a completely randomized design, with 300 male broiler chickens in four treatments with five replicates and 15 chicks in each group. The experimental groups consisted o...

Abstract Background and purpose: Different laboratories have considered different maturation factors for producing human dendritic cells (DC) from peripheral blood monocytes. In this study, we comprehensively investigated the effect of adding poly (I:C) to standard maturation stimulus, i.e. MCM and TNF-α on the induction of T cell response. Materials and methods: Peripheral blood monocytes ...
